Walking on the Bibbulmun Track

Walk the Bibbulmun Track

There is no better way to connect with nature than to be completely immersed in it. The Bibbulmun Track runs from Mundaring in Perth all the way to Albany, some 1000 kms. It happens to pass very close to us. Yiu can walk for a couple of hours, all day or do an overnight adventure. Blue Moon Forest Lodge is the perfect place to use as your base to explore the track.

Get on your bike

The Southern forests and Valley region is a mountain bikers paradise. There’s a bit of everything from flowing cross country single track, to long climbs with rewarding views to rolling jump tracks and everything in between, there is something to please every skill and fitness level. The Munda Biddi trail passes not far from us as it snakes its way from Perth all the way to Albany. The section near us takes you to either Manjimup or Nannup.

Wildflowers near Manjimup

See the wildflowers

In Spring the forests come alive with a vast display of wildflowers with their vibrant colours. Many species found in the region can’t be found anywhere else in the world, including over 50 species of orchids. No matter where you go, the dazzling colours seem to follow you. The best time to see the wildflowers is From early September to Late October. Please be mindful and only take photographs with you.

Climbing the Gloucester Tree

Nowhere else in the world can you get a bird’s eye view from the top of the canopy in an ancient forest. Once used as fire lookouts, there are 2 climbing trees both near Pemberton. The Gloucester Tree and the Bicentennial Tree offer views of the land that have to be seen to be believed.

Paddle a canoe on the Warren River

Take a paddle – Adventure Lovers

There are several river systems that are wonderful for kayaking or canoeing. The Blackwood river passes through Bridgetown on its way to Augusta and has both still and rapid waters. The Donnelly, Warren and Shannon rivers all offer a magic way to glide through the forests. Water levels are best in early Spring. There are tours available on the Warren River for this e who don’t have their own.
